Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi → Drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Your safari begins early morning with pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport.
Drive north through the scenic Kenyan highlands, passing lush coffee plantations and views of Mount Kenya’s snow-capped peak.

Arrive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy mid-morning — one of East Africa’s most successful wildlife sanctuaries, blending conservation and community.

Enjoy your first game drive, where you’ll encounter the Big Five — elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos — alongside endangered species like Grevy’s zebras and jackals.

Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimps. Learn about Ol Pejeta’s conservation success stories, including their rhino breeding programs and anti-poaching efforts.

After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation Options:

  • Luxury: Sweetwaters Serena Camp

  • Mid-Range: Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages

  • Budget: Comfort Garden Sweetwaters

Day 2: Ol Pejeta → Drive to Samburu Game Reserve

After breakfast, enjoy a short game drive in Ol Pejeta before departing north toward Samburu National Reserve.
The drive takes approximately 4–5 hours, offering a changing landscape from fertile highlands to the arid, rugged beauty of northern Kenya.

Arrive in Samburu in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lifeline of this reserve.

Here, you’ll meet the Samburu Special Five — rare animals only found north of the equator:

  • Reticulated giraffe

  • Grevy’s zebra

  • Beisa oryx

  • Somali ostrich

  • Gerenuk (the long-necked antelope)

As the sun sets over the volcanic hills, enjoy a peaceful evening at your lodge or camp.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation Options:

  • Luxury: Elephant Bedroom Camp / Samburu Intrepids

  • Mid-Range: Ashnil Samburu Camp / Samburu Sopa Lodge

  • Budget: Umoja Women’s Camp / Lion Cave Camp

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drives in Samburu National Reserve

Wake up to the sound of Africa — birds calling, lions roaring, and elephants moving toward the river.

Spend the day exploring Samburu’s contrasting landscapes — from acacia woodland to rocky escarpments.
Your expert guide will track wildlife while sharing insights into animal behavior and survival in this semi-arid ecosystem.

You’ll likely spot elephants bathing in the Ewaso Nyiro River, cheetahs hunting on open plains, and leopards lounging in trees.

After a picnic lunch in the wild, continue your adventure or choose from optional experiences:

  • Visit a Samburu Village: Meet the proud Samburu people and learn about their traditional way of life.

  • Nature Walk (optional): Explore the reserve’s fringes on foot with a local ranger.

End your day with a magical sunset drive, followed by dinner and storytelling by the fire at your lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Morning Game Drive → Return to Nairobi

Start with an early morning game drive to catch the park’s wildlife as it awakens.
Elephants, giraffes, and antelope often graze against the soft orange glow of dawn.

After breakfast, check out and begin your drive back to Nairobi, arriving by late afternoon.

Your 4 Days, 3 Nights Ol Pejeta & Samburu Safari ends with unforgettable memories — rhinos in the shadow of Mount Kenya and elephants roaming the rugged north.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
